This article by Aloysius and Christy (2022) investigated how self-motivation impacts employees' achievement on their job performance and satisfaction. The study was based on primary school teachers in Jaffna. Data and information were gathered from 62 teachers across six primary schools. Coefficient correlation and simple regression were used to establish the connectedness of independent and dependent variables and their importance. The study found that self-motivation led to achievement and increased job satisfaction, resulting in enhanced performance and productivity. The researchers also found that self-motivation was more important for achievement and job performance than satisfaction. This article is crucial for my research as it explains how self-motivation is important in spurring achievement and job performance. The research will provide the requisite background information to understand the art of self-motivation.

This article by Okine et al. (2021) examines the crucial role played by management in ensuring that employees are motivated by making their work more satisfying and aligning their goals with those of the organization. The article posits that with workplaces becoming more diverse, motivating employees is challenging as what people value and adore is impacted by various factors like cultural backgrounds. The article examines the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects that motivate employees to increase their organizational performance and productivity. The authors explore different motivation theories that can be used within an organization to motivate employees and enhance performance. The article discusses theories like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Herzberg's two factors, and McClelland's motivational theories, which can be applied in an organizational setup to motivate employees. The researchers found that motivation can be enhanced in various ways, but the management must be aware of what motivates individual employees. The researchers also found that if the motivation chosen satisfies the employee's needs, their performance and productivity increase. However, if the motivation technique chosen does not meet the employee's needs, their performance decreases. Self-motivation was found to be a crucial aspect of improving employee performance. This article is crucial to my research as it will help me understand the motivation theories application.
